We have been an established driving school in Essex for more than 15 years. Alan, our chief instructor, has been
a driving instructor for over 20 years. We are owned by Alan and Wendy Barker. With DTS Driving school all your
learner driving lessons will be conducted in one of our dual controlled Fiestas. This vehicle has been chosen
specifically because it is small and easy to manouvre and is probably the easiest car to learn to drive in. You will
be taught using the most current methods and techniques to ensure that not only will you have the very best
preparation to enable you to pass your driving test, but also to provide you with the resources and ability to be
confident to drive anywhere after you have passed. We emphasise that learning to drive is not just about passing
your driving test, but is also about being safe and confident on the road in all situations.

Alan, our chief driving instructor, has more than 20,000 hours learner driver teaching experience, and also has a
degree in education and combined sciences. As well as being a Driving Standards Agency Approved Driving
Instructor (ADI): His further driving qualifications include passing the Cardington Special Driving Test for Approved
Driving Instructors, the Driving Instructors Association DIAmond Advanced Test, the Institute of Advanced Motorists
(IAM) Advanced Test, The Royal Society of Accidents ( RoSPA) Advanced Test. He was also on the DSA Fleet
Driver rainer Register. Alan, our chief driving instructor, is available by request for your driving lessons.

We believe that learning to drive should be fun and not just hard work, and so it won't be like being back at school.
Although your lessons will be structured for maximum learning to take place, you should also enjoy them.
Naturally you will learn more and progress more quickly if you are comfortable in what you are doing. Our
nstructors all try very hard not to put you in overly stressful situations and will teach you at a level to suit your ability.

You can learn to drive with us in various ways - on an intensive course of between of about 6 - 8 weeks, or by
normal driving lessons by the hour, hour and a half, or two hour. You are also completely in control of your
schedule when you learn to drive with us, and you will always be given honest advice and guidance as to your
progress.

When you learn to drive your driving tuition is only as good as your driving instructor !

On average there are about 1 in 8 driving instructors who are trainees (that's 7644 in 2007, 5752 in 2008).
Trainees are not required to be supervised when training learner drivers. About 5000 new DSA ADI instructor
licences are issued each year (5714 in 2007/08, 4659 in 2008/09). Training involves 40 hours with a instructor
trainer, and 120 hours private study and in car practice. There are 45,000 driving instructors in total (as of
2008/09), on the DSA ADI register. This means that there are about 11,000 driving instructors, or 1 in 4, with very
little (less than one year's) teaching experience on the road at this very moment. About half of all driving instructors
have less than 3 years experience. Many of these will also work part time.

25% of all driving instructors are trainees, or newly qualified.

Driving instruction is a very high turnover job. Many people do it for a few years and then move on to something
else. There are some very good experienced driving instructors about. However, finding one can be a difficult task:
This is where we come in. We do not have any trainee driving instructors, or any recently qualified driving
instructors. They are all very qualified and experienced.
